This is a beautiful classic looking solid brass hinge (I checked, and it is not steel). It is the same look as those found on doors of the late 1800s and early 1900s. If you are looking for a replacement for one in an antique set, you might be able to pull it off with this if it looks close enough, but more than likely you would need to get two or three and replace them all. They would also look great on a trunk or even a classic toolbox.

If you are looking for a brand new four inch brass butt hinge that gives an antique flavor to your project, this is just the thing. It is a steel hinge I believe with a rich brass plating , there are some almost oriental looking designs stamped into the leaves of the hinge, My wife says they are not dragons , but we differ on what cloud formations look like quite often. Any way, the effect is quite nice, and the finials on the hinge pin are just very graceful in my opinion. These are sold singly so if you need three you do not have to buy two pairs to get what you need.

This is a decorative and heavy duty hinge. With 4 screws in each side it should hold almost any hinged weight. It is gold colored and has a scrolled design on each side and finials on the top and the bottom. This hinge is fairly large so if you are buying on-line make sure you want a 4 inch tall and 4 inch wide hinge. I would highly recommend this for a chest or somewhere else where the design can be seen and admired.
