    Description

This is a nice Aso Oke cloth fabric which was hand woven and hand sewn by the tribal Yoruba people of Nigeria. The Yoruba people hand weave long strips of fabric which are then sewn together to make up the larger textiles pieces. Men have traditionally done the weaving in Yoruba culture but some Yoruba women are beginning to weave also. These weavings are traditionally used for special ceremonies like weddings, name givings, funerals, births and other religious ceremonies. This large Aso Oke Cloth textile specimen measures 84 inches long by 42 1/2 inches wide. This specimen is in great overall condition with minor staining and would be great worn as a wrap or shawl. This specimen would normally be used and or processed farther for crafting purposes such as constructing clothing items, table cloths, drapes, pillows or wall decor from - these pieces look great stretched and framed and even as throws on couches and chairs. There is really no end to the great items which can be made from these Cloths! Very nice, interesting African textile fabric for any craft person to create with or for home décor. Please see my eBay store Mountainamma's Marketplace for thousands of items to browse through.
