Advantage II for cats is a topical flea treatment that spreads over the skin and hair. Advantage II kills through contact, so fleas don’t have to bite your cat to die. With oral flea treatments, fleas must bite your cat and ingest the medication before they are killed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to work on fleas?
Advantage II for cats kills fleas within 12 hours of application.
Why do I still see fleas after using Advantage II?
The fleas you see on your pet today are not the same fleas that you initially saw when you applied the treatment. These are new fleas from the environment that have since developed into adults and jumped on your cat. As the weeks go by, these developing stages should run their course and disappear. Be sure to treat your pet’s environment, including your home, yard, carpet, bedding, etc.
Does it expire?
There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Advantage II for cats. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.
What are the key ingredients?
Advantage II for cats contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid, which attacks the flea’s nervous system, to paralyze and kill it, and pyriproxyfen, which prevents eggs and larvae from maturing.
